POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

PARK & RECREATION DIRECTOR

The Town of Enfield is in search of an energetic individual to direct the Park and Recreation Department. This individual will head a senior program and youth programs. The individual will plan, direct, and participate in providing a flexible program of recreational activities for all segments, groups, ages, and interest levels of the community.

  • Develops long-range plans for the provision of recreational facilities and open space for the leisure time enjoyment of the public; manages the maintenance and use of current facilities.
  • Solicits advisory assistance to and provides administrative support to various advisory and community groups.
  • Recommends the acquisition, development and maintenance of park and playground areas, structures, and facilities.
  • Counsels and receives input from community groups, neighborhood groups, and individuals concerning the parks and recreation needs, and opportunities, and utilizes such input for overall planning and
    programming.
  • Allocates and supervises the work of subordinates; provides programs of training for staff subordinates.
  • Develops, supports, controls, and administers the budget for the department. Interprets the recreational and park program through press releases and other publicity; through representation on councils and committees; and cooperative planning and effective working relationships with other community agencies and groups, public, and private.
  • Keeps schedules and reports concerning the use and maintenance of all facilities and equipment; prepares and directs the preparation of the periodic and special activity and program reports.
  • Maintains close relationships with school officials and other public agencies.
  • Review, plan, and supervise the various programs of the department.

Mature, responsible adult with a valid NC Driver's License. A High School diploma and experience in the recreation area are preferred.

 

ELECTRIC LINE TECHNICIAN\ ELECTRIC MAINTENANCE WORKER – Performs a variety of technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground or overhead electrical distribution lines.  Work is differentiated from higher levels of line work by performing only less hazardous and less skilled phases of electrical distribution work including working only on secondary lines and performing maintenance and assistance on the crew.  The employee is responsible for operating the line truck to set poles and transformers, the service truck including repairing or replacing area lights, installing residential services, and other tasks using the bucket truck. The employee applies standardized techniques and safety standards in daily work operations.  Work requires frequent on-call and call-back responsibilities.  The employee is subject to hazards associated with electrical work including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme temperatures, and exposure to various hazards such as working at heights, loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, confined spaces, poor ventilation, and oils.  Work is performed under regular supervision and is reviewed in progress and upon completion for conformance to instructions and accepted standards.  The position requires graduation from high school supplemented by training in electrical principles and experience related to electrical distribution system work or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  The position also requires possession of or the ability to obtain (within 6 months) a valid Class A Commercial NC Driver’s License. 

 

POLICE OFFICERS – Responsible for the enforcement of state & town laws. Patrol assigned areas ensuring the safety of the public, investigating criminal activity, providing assistance to motorists and citizens, preparing reports, maintaining records and files, and testifying in court.

Minimum requirement: High School diploma, possession of valid NC driver’s license and basic law enforcement certificate.
